Milkshake here! I am a common goldfish, like the one below, but thats not me. My ownwer tried to figure out how to get a picture of me on here, but she couldn't. Sorry! Anyway, browse this lik to see what kind of goldfish is best for you, or to see what kind of goldfish you've got!

Common goldfish

Picture
Common goldfish are what you would see in the pet store. these fish are very hardy and quick swimmers. These goldfish are often used as feeder fish, but their skeletens are hard to digest for bigger fish. Me and Blackie and Splash are commons. These types of goldfish mainly come in golden orange, but can also come in many combanations of orange, red and silver. It can live just about anywhere, in freshwater. Ponds, tanks, pools. These goldfish are very social and friendly. Comes in both short and long fins. Long fins are very rare.

Comet goldfish

Picture
Comet goldfish are quite similar to common goldfish. They are eaisily identified by their v shaped tails. They have the need for speed! This species of goldfish is a fast swimmer and needs lots of water room to swim around when they get those sudden bursts of energy. They, like common goldfish, are very hardy and strong. Also comes in long fins.

Jikin Goldfish

Picture
This rare breed of gooldfish is also sometimes called the peacock goldfish or the Butterfly goldfish. With proper care, these beautiful goldfish can live up to over 10 years and can grow up to 9". It has a unique caudal and resembles the common goldfish. Colors can range from red to white. Very hardy.

Black moor

Picture
Black moor goldfish are friendly and social goldfish. They may look different, but they are still goldfish. They have limited eye-sight because their eyes pop out of their heads. It prefers food that sinks to the bottom of the tank. Because of this fish's part blindness, it swims rather slow, and cannot be paired with fast moving fish, such as commons, comets and shubunkins. It is very hardy, and likes to munch on aquatic plants. They can live in a variety of temperatures. It does best with other fish that can't see well, so no fish has a lesser chance of finding food. You should know that Black moors like to dig under the gravel and decor' of your aquarium. To make it more fun to dig, aquarium sand instead of gravel is a wonderful idea. Decorations will have to be non-pointed and silkly plants that won't hurt their eyes.

Fantail

Picture
Fantail goldfish fall into the catogory of ''fancy'' goldfish, because of it's double tail. These goldfish are very popular and people love watching them swim around with their beautiful tails flowing behind. They come in a variety of colors. The one shown in the picture is a calico Fantail. These goldfish are a popular showfish. They can, like the Black moor, live in a variety of temperatures and ponds.

Bubble eye

Picture
The Bubble-eye goldfish is indeed a strange looking fish. It's eyes appear to be extremly large due to fluid sacs directly under the eyes. This goldfish does well with other partly blind fish, such as the Black moor, Telescope eye, and the Celestial eye. When choosing decorations and ornaments, make sure there is nothing that will damage the fluid sacs. Rocks should not be added for they can damage the sacs. If the sacs are damaged, they will heal, but they may become oddly shaped of leave a scar. If they are damaged, the water will have to be EXTREMELY clean for the sacs to begin healing. These type of fish need a large aquarium, and enjoy aquatic plants to munch on. Keep in mind that this is an advanced level fish; not for beginners! It likes warmer water than much goldfish and needs frequent water changes. it likes to swim at the bottom of the tank and should be fed a sinking pellet.

Celestial eye

Picture
The Celestial eye goldfish is another partly blind fish. But, unlike others whose eyes pop out on the side, these goldfish's eyes look straight up! These unique fish are in the fancy catagory, but has no dorsal fin. Like other impaired fish, the Celestial eye cannot have anything in the tank that will damage it's delicate eyes. A good thing to put in the tank is sand instead of gravel or rocks on the bottom. Aquatic plants are also a good idea, but be careful on choosing the plants; some can be scratchy. With proper care, this goldfish can live up to 15 years.

Telescope eye.

Picture
The Telescope eye goldfish is another sight impared goldfish. They move slowly and make sure there is nothing in the tank that will damage their sensitive eyes. They are also known as the Dragon eye goldfish, and are a type of fancy goldfish. They like to be at the bottom of the tank, so feed a sinking pellet. Also a feeding clip with a suction cup is good too. Stick the suction cup to the side of the tank. The you can put veggies in the clip for your fish to enjoy. They will learn fast about where the food is, and where it will come from.

Pompom

Picture
Basiclly, the Pompom goldfish is a fancy goldfish with large nasal  lobes, that look almost like pompoms. It has flowings fins, like fancy goldfish do, and an egg shaped body that comes in gold, or sometimes even a chocolate brown.

Veiltail

Picture
The Veiltail goldfish is truly a beautiful fish. It's tail is a stunning give away to it's catagory of a fancy goldfish. It is easily identified by the way it's tail droops off its body. Fancy goldfish's double tails slow them down, and it's not any differnt with this fish. It does best with other fancies, due to slowness. Aquatic plants are good, and this goldfish will add some zest to your aquarium.

Ryukin

Picture
The Ryukin is a popular fish in Japan, and is, of course, a fancy goldfish. It has a deep, fat body and holds it's tail high. Ryukins have a distinguishinh hump on it's back, and the bigger the hump, the better quality of the fish. Since it is a strong swimmer, it likes to have a lot of room to swim. This goldfish is prone to swim bladder problems, so it should be fed sinking pellets.

Shubunkin

Picture
The Shubunkin is a fast swimming fish, along with the Common and the Comet species. They only come in the calico color, so each Shububkin looks unique. They can grow to be very large fish., so a large aquarium is a must, also because they like to swim. They do well with other fast swimming  goldfish, such as the Common and Comet varieties.

Pearlscale

Picture
The Pearlscale goldfish is a unique type of goldfish. Theier scales look like pearls, which is how they got their name. It is fatter than most types, but it is a fancy goldfish. They have a hood, or crown on their head, similar to the Lionhead. These goldfish can grow to be very big, and require a large tank because of it. It likes to dig, so sand instead of of pebbles is a good idea to make it more fun to dig in. It is an exellent beginnerr fish. And enjoys veggies.

Oranda

Picture
Oranda goldfish are another type of fancy goldfish, with a hood or crown on top of their head. They are a popular breed of fish. They are the result of a Lionhead and a Veiltail. It takes about 2 years for the hood to develop. It's best to keep them with other slow moving fish, and they enjoy veggies like most goldfish. Keep in mind that Orandas are prone to swim bladder problems, so feed sinking pellets.

Ranchu

Picture
The Ranchu goldfish is a round goldfish that lacks a dorsal fin. The pinched tail can be a give away, exept for the hood.(crown) These goldfish is known as the ''Buffalo head'' in Asia. They need lots of swimming room and love food. They will compete with other fish for food to make sure they get their fair share. They, like most goldfish, like veggies, such as spinach, lettuce, bloodworms, and blanched peas. This is the goldfish diet, including flakes/pellets. This fish can live in ponds, and can live for many years if cared for properly.

Lionchu

Picture
The lionchu goldfish is a cross between a loinhead and a ranchu. These are social goldfish that can grow up to 6".A type of fancy goldfish, it has a meduim care level.

Lionhead

Picture
The Lionhead goldfish is the oldest breed of goldfish. It's face is so cute, you can't help not to love it. The head growth is it's most distinguishing feature, but can get to big and cover up the gills, making breathing difficult. This goldfish has no dorsal fin, a deep body, and comes in a wide range of colors.
